Sporking: Child Of Grace - Table of Contents
I first heard of Child of Grace through the das_mervin sporking. I read all fifty-five sporked chapters over a course of maybe five days, in a feverish haze of outrage and despair. My friend Harley was reading My Immortal at the time, and we traded horror stories, quotes, and rants. Eventually she finished My Immortal, and because she is some kind of badfic masochist, decided to read Child of Grace. Not just the sporking, mind you: the original fic in all its undiluted horror.
And because I am either a good friend or completely mental, I read it too.
This fic is just so awful, and in ways the sporking hadn't even touched on, not because it wasn't a good critique but because the depth of do-not-want was far beyond what one sporking could cover. It had issues that have plagued the fandom for years and brand new WTFery as well. It had the usual writing mistakes and baffling word choices, plus character bashing and Sueification galore. It couldn't decide whether it wanted to be a full on AU or a for-want-of-a-nail fic, and turned the sequence of events into an incomprehensible mess as a result.

So, we decided one good sporking deserves another. All the commenting rules are the same as Das_Sporking: No linking authors to sporkings of their own work (In Mervin's words, "I don’t care if the people in question find this on their own by accident. But do NOT link it to the people I spork. It’s bad form, rude, and asking for trouble."), be polite, avoid excessive trashing of the authors themselves (threats of violence against real people are banned), and don't feed trolls. Unless you mean actual Potterverse trolls and you're feeding them a nasty Mary Sue, although that may be bad for their digestion.
Now, without further ado, let's spork Child of Grace.
